Cancel Any AI Subscription: Free Checklist

Being charged for an AI app you no longer use? This checklist shows where a subscription is billed (App Store, Google Play, PayPal or the website), how to cancel it properly, how to ask for a refund, and what to check before you sign up for the next one. Print it or save it as a PDF.

Updated October 2026

Step 1: Find out where you are paying

The charge on your bank statement tells you where to cancel. Look at the name next to the amount.

  • Says APPLE.COM/BILL: you pay through the App Store. iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
  • Says GOOGLE: you pay through Google Play. Play Store app → your profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
  • Says PAYPAL: PayPal → Settings → Payments → Manage automatic payments.
  • Shows the company or a payment processor (Stripe, Paddle, FastSpring): you pay on the website. Log in and open Billing, Plan or Account. Search your e-mail for the first receipt; it usually has a “manage subscription” link.
  • You do not recognise the name at all: search the exact text from the statement. Many AI apps bill under a parent company’s name.

Step 2: Cancel the right way

  • Cancel in the same place you subscribed. Deleting the app or your account does not stop the payments.
  • App Store and Google Play subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date, so do not leave it to the last day.
  • Cancelling a free trial usually keeps your access until the trial ends, so you can cancel straight after you sign up.
  • Take a screenshot of the cancellation screen and keep the confirmation e-mail.
  • Check your statement after the next billing date to make sure no new charge appears.

Step 3: Ask for your money back

  • App Store: request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
  • Google Play: shortly after a purchase you can request a refund in your Play Store order history; after that, contact the app developer.
  • Website or PayPal: e-mail the company’s support with the template below. Keep it short and polite and ask for a reply in writing.
  • No answer after 7–10 days? PayPal users can open a dispute in the Resolution Center. Card users can ask their bank about a chargeback for a charge they did not agree to.

Copy-paste refund e-mail

Subject: Refund request and cancellation, account [your e-mail]

Hello,

I cancelled my subscription to [product] on [date] and I am asking for a refund of [amount] charged on [date]. [I did not intend to renew / I did not use the service after the trial / I was charged after cancelling.]

Please confirm the cancellation and the refund in writing.

Thank you,
[Your name]

Step 4: Before your next AI subscription

  • Find the price after the trial and how often it bills (weekly, monthly, yearly).
  • Read the refund policy before you pay, not after.
  • Check the company name, address and reviews. See if Datalevo has checked the tool.
  • Set a reminder one day before a trial ends.
  • Pay with a card you can freeze or a virtual card, never with gift cards or crypto.
