Perchance’s privacy page makes two promises that seem to clash. Near the top, the developer says the AI chat and image tools don’t store your data on the server. Further down, the legal section says it “may sell the personal information” of California users to deliver tailored ads.
Both are true. That gap is the most useful thing to understand about whether Perchance AI is safe. What you type into a generator mostly stays in your own browser. Your visit doesn’t: the server logs your IP address, and ad partners including Google can set cookies.
Our verdict is Caution. For an adult who keeps personal details out of prompts, perchance.org is more private than most free AI tools. It’s a poor fit for children, because the generators are built by strangers and there’s no account or age on file to filter anything.

Anonymous, with two exceptions
You don’t need an account to use Perchance’s AI chat, story or image tools. No email, no name, no phone number. According to the privacy page, even logging in doesn’t link your account to your AI requests; an account only connects you to generators you’ve built yourself. The developer goes as far as suggesting a temporary email address if you do sign up.
The first exception is server logs. Like most sites, Perchance records your IP address, browser, operating system, the pages you visit and when. The policy says this is used only to spot abuse and to count traffic.
The second is advertising, which is how the free AI gets paid for. The policy names Google, Freestar, Sovrn and Snigel as ad partners, and says those companies may place cookies and track behavior. What the developer says they can’t do is read what you type: ads run inside a sandboxed frame that’s walled off from the generator itself. So an ad network can learn that you visited Perchance, but not what your story was about.
The legal section was last updated on June 22, 2020, and reads like a generic template. The plain-English notes above it are the part that describes how the AI features work.
Where your words and images actually go
This is the part most “is it safe” answers skip. Based on Perchance’s privacy page and what the tools themselves say, here’s what happens to your data in each case:

When we opened the AI Story Generator on September 25, 2026, the page itself said stories are kept only in your browser or device storage and told users to back them up often. That cuts both ways. Clear your browser data and your stories are gone. And anyone who uses the same browser on a shared computer can open them.
The “safe AI chat” page is a lightbulb game
Plenty of people search for Perchance’s “safe AI chat,” and some type the address perchance.org/safe-ai-chat straight in. When we opened it on September 25, 2026, it loaded a clicker game called Lightbulb Tycoon. No chat at all.
That’s the single most important thing to know about Perchance. Almost every page on it is a generator made by a community member, who picks the name and can change the page whenever they like. A word like “safe” in a page’s address is a label someone chose. It isn’t a promise from Perchance.
The developer’s own advice is to treat each page like a random page on the internet and never enter private or sensitive data. A generator is code written by someone you don’t know, and that code decides what happens to what you type. If you want to see what a page does, every generator has an edit button in the top corner that shows its code. Starting from the main tools (the AI Story Generator links to AI Chat, AI Character Chat and the AI Image Generator) is safer than following a random generator link from social media.
Content warnings, and why kids are the real concern
Searches like “perchance ai story content warning” usually come from people who hit a warning screen before a generator loads. One user in Perchance’s community forum on Lemmy described a warning that asked them to confirm they were over 18. It appears on generators that may produce mature material.
Treat it as a label, not a lock. Since the AI tools don’t need an account, there’s no age on file for anything to check against. Some image and story generators are filtered much like mainstream services; others are built to allow content that would be blocked elsewhere. Which one a child lands on depends on the link they followed.

Several other sites use the Perchance name, including perchanceai.com, perchance-ai.org and perchanceai.cc. One of them, perchanceai.com, describes itself as a free, no-signup platform of thousands of AI tools. Its About page doesn’t mention perchance.org, and it works differently: it invites you to upload a selfie for outfit and hairstyle try-ons, and offers optional accounts that save chat history across devices.
We’re not calling those sites scams. They’re separate websites with their own policies, so nothing in this article’s privacy findings carries over to them. Before you upload a photo of your face anywhere, read that site’s privacy policy, not perchance.org’s.
Habits that keep Perchance low-risk
- Keep real names, addresses, schools, workplaces and photos of real people out of prompts.
- Don’t press save, share or the heart button unless you’re happy for that content to be public.
- Back up stories you care about. Browser storage can be wiped by a cleanup app or a settings change.
- On a shared computer, use a separate browser profile. A private window works too, but your stories disappear when you close it.
- Look for perchance.org in the address bar before trusting anything this article says about privacy.
